SUPPORTING SPECIAL OPERATIONS FAMILIES THROUGH CREATIVE THERAPY
Last Room is a creative arts studio exclusively for the U.S. military Special Operations community. We provide creative therapies, art instruction, workshops and focus groups, open studio hours and gallery exhibitions. All of our services are zero-cost to our participants.
Everyone on the board of Last Room is a member of the Naval Special Warfare community, either by direct military service, marriage/partnership or long-term professional relationship. Special operations is a unique world. We are firmly rooted within it, dedicated to both the healing and prevention of invisible wounds incurred through military service.

WORKSHOPS AND FOCUS GROUPS
Last Room staffs and partners with licensed mental health practitioners (Master’s level degree or higher) and certified art therapists. All of our programs are written and facilitated by these trusted agents. Workshops and focus groups take place outside of open studio hours and are expressly tailored for each cohort by topic, medium and intended therapeutic goal. These sessions are closed and confidential.

GROWTH AND INTEGRATION THROUGH ART
The creative act of art-making is medicine for the spirit, innate in all of us. It awakens the curiosity to explore new realms. It is an unfolding that happens in real-time but follows no linear path. Sometimes an artwork comes forth quickly, all at once even. But usually, creating art happens in many stages and seasons. It cannot be forced.
Open studio time is a central aspect of Last Room, and what sparked this entire project from the very beginning. Every day of the week, we offer casual and unstructured hours of “independent study” in order for community members to create art at their own pace. -
EXHIBITS AND EVENTS
Periodically, Last Room holds art openings and exhibitions in its gallery space. All artworks are created through our program and in our facilities by members of the Special Operations community.
